2nd announcement of the NMDB Training Course

This is the second announcement of a training course that the NMDB consortium will host from September 14-19, 2009 in
Athens, Greece.

This course is designated to students, post docs, researchers and engineers interested by a broad range of applications of cosmic rays, from astrophysics of energetic particles to their impact on the Earth.

  • All of the attendees will be hosted at the Students Residence Hall at the campus of the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens. The accommodation has been set to by activated from Saturday September 12, 2009 until Sunday September 20, 2009 (More info on the Students Residence Hall can be extracted here (pdf / 489 kB).
  • The laboratory exercises have been prepared. All summaries and details on the procedure, together with bibliographic references have been include. This has been set online here (pdf / 977.21 kB)
  • Students attending the course will also have the opportunity to present their research. Two end-of-afternoon sessions will be scheduled for short oral presentations on Monday and Tuesday, and posters can be shown during the whole course. The program and the abstract book of the students presentation can be found here (pdf / 224.17 kB).
  • Daily expenses, in the form of two meals per day, per person plus coffee breaks will be provided by NMDB consortium. No other form of support, concerning daily expenses, will be provided.
  • The excursion on Wednesday September 16, 2009 will be free of charge. It will be a walk at Acropolis, downtown Athens, which will include guided tour at Acropolis Archaeological Site and at the new Acropolis museum.
  • The excursion on Saturday September 19, 2009 will be optional. It will be an excursion at Mycenae archaeological site. The cost is set to 44, 00 €, it includes: transportation, entrance costs to the archaeological site, an official guide and dinner.
  • A reception will take place at the meeting hall of the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens: ‘Kostis Palamas’, after the public talk of S. Krimigis on Friday September 18, 2009. Find a printable version of the formal invitation here (pdf / 141.28 kB)
  • The registration has been completed. A total of 56 confirmed participants will attend the training course. The final list of the participants can be found here (pdf /30.35 kB).
