  • Correction of the start_date_time of all Rome hourly data inserted in NMDB. Since August 5, 2009 the correct start_date_time of 1-minute data is also fixed.
  • Replacement of the Rome/SVIRCO computer data acquisition with a new one faster and more efficient for sending on-line data to NMDB. Recovering of the Rome data, lost because of some link interruption in August, will be completed.
  • Completion of the meteorological station for external atmospheric measurements and check on parameters to be inserted in the NMDB environment table.
  • WP 5.6 - Carrying on of the work on cosmic ray fluctuations and correlation with interplanetary and geomagnetic parameters by using data of NMDB stations.

  • LMKS_env table updated for new format –PHP script for enviromental data uploading (indoor temperature and relative humidity) was modified

    was prepared for publication in the proceedings of ICRC, Lodz, Poland, July 7-12 and presented as a poster
  • the diurnal variation fit, and quality of the fit, was prepared as delivery 5.6. It allows to each user to obtain amplitude, phase, daily average and a measure of deviation from the pure harmonic wave with daily period. This can be used for each station and each day with the data (1min) available at nmdn data base. The smoothing period can be selected. The optional one is 30 min. The current status can be checked at (reading data from local database mirror) or at (reading data from main server


  • (WP3) Power supplies for the proportional counters of Aragats neutron monitors use Ceramic High Voltage Disc Capacitors with epoxy coating produced by Vishay Draloric. During winter several power supplies were fired. After investigations of fired electronics we conclude that the declared high voltage limit (3 kV) was not satisfied and a breakdown occurs. Now we are changing the power supply design to change all power supplies at Aragats and Nor Amberd Neutron Monitors.
  • (WP4) The data base of ASEC particle detectors is under optimization. The XML data structure is I tuned for the DB architecture.
  • (WP5) The tests of the alert system based on information from Neutron Monitors and GOES X-ray sensors are started. The filtering algorithms are smoothing large and small peaks due to funderstoem activity. Aragats group recently discovers that due to photonuclear reactions large amount of neutrons is registered by Aragts and Nor Amberd Neutron Monitors in May-August. Now the tinung of algorithms is perform to take into account such events.
  • (WP6) Aragats group is finished with preparation of the materials for the Education site and post it in the NMDB site. New design of start page is under preparation.


  • (WP5)
    During July – August 2009 we forced to change radically our operation platform and software on the Emilio Segre Observatory with transfer from Windows to LYNUX (UBUNTU 9.04), software of data transition from DOS computer of registration to LYNUX computer of preliminary filtration and primary analysis under LYNUX.
    This drastically change was caused by absence of necessary level of stability and protection of existed system worked under Windows.
    We used HAMACHY soft for generation of virtual permanent IP and DROPBOX software for sharing of directories in LYNUX computer in observatory on Mount Hermon with server computer in TAU. In time being we finish tests of stability of new system and hope next week to start experimental mode of real observational time data upload to NMDB database server.
  • (WP6) During July we prepared draft of science educational projects for school (K12), college and universities students based on using of real observational data from NMDB archives and real time data (one school laboratory experiment and 5 Internet–based projects (see in ).
